Pete Tormey

Mr. Tormey has over 20 years of experience in product development, marketing and intellectual property protection. As a company startup veteran, he brings a unique perspective on the value of intellectual property to a small and growing business. As such, he has also delivered lectures to entrepreneurs and business executives on how to protect and leverage IP assets.

Mr. Tormey is the author of the Startup Guide to Intellectual Property.

As a patent attorney, Mr. Tormey has drafted over 100 patent applications covering software, electronics, wireless, radio, mobile applications, encryption and automation controls. His legal experience includes corporate formation, dissolutions, and international transactions.

Mr. Tormey has over 25 years experience as a design engineer and successful entrepreneur. He has an MBA in Marketing from St. Mary’s College in California, a BS Electronic Engineering from San Francisco State University (Magna Cum Laude) and a JD from J. F. Kennedy Law School.

Michael Petrin

Partner, Of Counsel Attorney

Mr. Petrin has nearly 30 years of experience with a Fortune 500 consumer products company, starting as a research scientist with a Doctorate in Chemistry from the University of California at Davis. He has worked and patented novel bleaching, cleaning and disinfecting technologies, conducted research into biomimetic systems, enzymatic and activator chemistry, and polymer and nanotechnologies that were successfully used in number one branded consumer and professional products. he has been practicing Patent Law for over 15 years, with experience conducting competitive IP Landscapes, patentability, freedom-to-operate and white space opportunity analysis, to working with fellow scientists on invention and discovery protection, drafting, prosecution and litigation support in patent matters.

Mr. Petrin’s patent expertise includes business applications, chemical arts, foods, consumer products and formulation, devices and instrumentation, polymer technology, and nanotechnology.
